is mainly the disease of mature age but now a days its young patients are also
abundantly available. This disease is supposed to be incurable from treatment
point of view. It's main symptoms are as follows: - Acute
pain, swelling and redness in joints
- Feeling of light temperature
- Sweating
with foul smell
- Feeling of weakness
- Stiffness
in joints
- Inability to move
- Cracking
sound in joints
- Prolonged Constipation
Causes:
Usually this disease is observed in such patients whose bodies accumulation of
morbid matter is of acidic nature. Due to the alkaline nature of bones, acidic
morbid matter has a tendency to move towards the bones so that it could be neutralised
by their alkalinity. In this process, it usually gets deposited in the joints
and the symptoms of swelling and pain start. According to Yoga and Naturopathy
wrong eating, living and thinking habits are the principal causes of this painful
disease.
Treatment:
The patient may take fomentation of the joints where swelling and pain is present.
Application of cold pack wrapped up by woollen dry bandage or hot pack is the
best treatment for such patients. Steam bath, once or twice a week, occasional.
Full tub bath, warm water enema for cleansing of the bowels and Epsom salt bath
should also be used. Such patients must give special
attention to the change of their diet. They are advised to take mainly alkaline
diet. Fruits e.g. sweet Orange, sweet Lemon, Mousami, Pineapple. Chakotara etc.
provide benefit in this disease. Fruit i.e., lemon etc. give alkaline effect after
digestion and are therefore considered as alkaline food substances. There should
be at least 80% alkaline food items in their normal diet. Occasional fast and
keeping on fruit diet gives early relief. Foods of acidic nature like. Tea, Coffee,
Bread, Omelette, Non-veg. food items. Oily and fried food etc. should be discarded
by patients suffering from this disease. Most of the exercises
ofYogic Sukshma Vyayama are beneficial in this disease. Surya Namaskar, Tadasana.
Katichakrasana, Konasana, Padahastasana, Ekpadotanasana, Supta Pavanmuktasana,
Merudanda Ghumava-asana, Bhujangasana, Dhanurasana, Vajrasana, Gomukhasana. Siddhasana,
Ardha Matsyendrasana and Pashchimottanasana may be practised regularly. Suryabhedi,
Bhastrika and Nadi Shodhana Pranayama are specially beneficial in this disease
condition. Arthritis has many types. Therefore, its correct
diagnosis is imperative before taking to treatment. Patient should consult some
distinguished expert in case desired relief is not obtained from the prescribed
procedures and after thorough examination he may take the treatment according
