Causes
& Nature Cure of Cough If
coughing is marked with expulsion of cough or sputum then it is called wet cough.
Coughing without expulsion of cough is called dry cough. Its main symptoms are
as follows: - Producing rattling sound
- Feeling
of pain in chest during extensive coughing
- Feeling of tiredness
and weakness
Causes: Due
to infection of cold in chest or accumulation of excessive cough the respiratory
tract shrinks. The morbid matter accumulated in the form of cough produces interference
in the exhalation of breath. The resulting pressure produces a rattling sound
in the respiratory tract that is termed as cough.
Treatment:
On noticing symptoms of cough all efforts should be made to avoid extensive cold.
To liberate the respiratory tract from the cough like morbid matter is the only
treatment of cough. First of all bowels may be cleansed by taking warm water enema
for 2-3 days. For Nature Cure treatments, Hot foot bath and Chest pack are beneficial.
Heavy and cough producing diet like milk and milk products and sweets should be
avoided and light Sattvic diet may be taken. Taking boiled water for drinking
is also very effective in overcoming Cough. Ginger juice mixed with honey is beneficial
and may be taken several times a day. For dry cough,
Chest pack and use of honey are beneficial. In dry cough, half cup green bottle
water duly charged with sun rays empty stomach and half cup yellow bottle water
after taking food daily morning and evening is beneficial. For overcoming cough
with sputum half cup yellow bottle water duly charged with sun rays must be taken
immediately after food. In all cough conditions, Kunjala may
be performed regularly in the morning for few days. Thereafter Vastra Dhauti and
Jal Neti should be practiced so that the phlegm accumulated in respiratory tract
could be eliminated. The practice of first to fifth kriyas described in Sukshma
Vyayama and Udar Shakti Vikasaka exercises improve this disease condition, Surya
Namaskara, Tadasana, Kati Chakrasana, Bhujangasana, Dhanurasana, Ushtrasana, Gomukhasana
and Matsyasna are useful inn this disease. The practice of Bhastrika, Kapalbhati
and Ujjai Pranayama is advantegeous in wet cough and shitali nd sitkari Pranayamas
are specially useful in dry cough. The practic of Ghrit Neti before Pranayama
gives definite benefit. |
